GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME) is an American video game, consumer electronics, and wireless services retailer. The company is operating 6,690 retail stores in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Europe. With such a wide store chain GameStop is currently the world's largest video game retailer. The company was founded back in 1984 under the brand Babbage's. GameStop brand was first introduces in 1999 and three years later the company went public. In 2005 GameStop acquired EB Games for $1.44 billion. The acquisition expanded GameStop's operations internationally into Europe, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. In 2007 the company acquired Blockbuster's division Rhino Video Games, which mainly operated stores in the Southeastern United States, for an undisclosed amount. Read more
