General Motors (NYSE:GM), the once prominent and untouchable automaker, is now facing possible criminal charges from prosecutors at the Justice Department over the faulty ignition switch design, linked to over 100 deaths. According to the U.S. attorney's office, GM broke the law by engineering ignition switches that it knew were faulty during the initial design. GM paid a record $35 million civil fine in 2014. Prosecutors in the Justice Department did not single out any individual employee in their criminal complaint.
